How to Plan Your Own Wedding: From Invitations to Menu

Organizing a wedding is quite a challenge. Everything needs to be meticulously planned and prepared so that you can finally celebrate this exceptionally important day in peace. There is no denying that the larger the wedding, the greater the organizational effort. However, regardless of the number of invited guests, the future Bride and Groom must find a venue, choose and send out invitations, hire a band, orchestra, or DJ, order catering, hire a photographer, and take care of a multitude of other matters. How do you avoid getting lost in the maze of all these things and how can you best plan all the steps? This article will answer these questions.
Wedding date
Planning a wedding should start with setting a specific date. Depending on the city and the time of year, the venue schedule can be more or less tight. In large, popular centers, it is harder to find an available venue. The same applies to certain months – the summer period and holidays are statistically the most frequently chosen dates for a wedding. So let's pay attention to this and plan the wedding date at least a year in advance. Once chosen, we can book the venue and the date at the church.
Budget
Of course, we won't be able to calculate the exact budget needed to organize a wedding. However, it is worth having a rough idea and, for example, setting a price range within which we can operate.
Music band
Popular and more "in-demand" bands have bookings months in advance, which is why it is worth starting the search for the right musical accompaniment for our party as early as possible. The same applies to the photographer and videographer – it is better to book them as early as possible (even 10 months before the planned ceremony), as we may not have enough time for it later on.
Wedding guest list
Before choosing and printing the ordered wedding invitations, we must prepare a list of wedding guests. We recommend dedicating at least a few evenings to this task to ensure that no one has been left out. It is also worth considering at this stage who should sit next to whom to make this process easier later. When ordering invitations, you can also think about how many and what kind of wedding accessories we will need. It is good if they are chosen from the same stylistic line, forming a beautiful whole. Remember that well-chosen wedding accessories are a guarantee of original and refined decorations.

Honeymoon
If we are planning to go on a honeymoon, it is worth looking for a suitable destination in advance. In the case of exotic countries, vaccinations or a visa may be required, the processing of which sometimes takes several weeks. A few months before the wedding, our schedule will certainly be so tight that we may not find enough time to focus on this issue.
Pre-marital counseling
Pre-marital counseling is, of course, only mandatory if you are entering into a sacramental marriage. If we decide on one, we should check at the parish where and when such classes take place. They can last for several weeks, so we must reserve enough time for them.
Wedding invitations
The previously prepared guest list will be useful when ordering wedding invitations. However, we also need some time to choose them. The catalog of invitations is truly rich, so every Bride and Groom will find invitations tailored to their character and the style of the wedding. This will certainly bring a lot of joy, but it is a time-consuming task, so let's take this into account and allocate an appropriate amount of time (about a month) for their selection and preparation. In turn, the stage of handing out invitations to potential guests takes up to two months, and the invited people must still have time to make a decision and confirm or possibly decline their presence at the wedding. Therefore, you need to think about wedding invitations at least 4 months before the ceremony, but the earlier, the better.

Wedding dress, suit, and rings
This stage can take several weeks or one day. Everything depends on whether we decide to have a wedding dress sewn or to buy a ready-made product. Choosing a suit is definitely a simpler matter, but it is worth combining these two tasks and doing them at about the same time. Along with purchasing the wedding dress, you should choose accessories – shoes and jewelry. While doing so, let's not forget, of course, to order the rings, the making of which can take from several to a dozen or so days, especially if we decide on decorative engraving.

Wedding car
Choosing a wedding car is an important issue that is often left to the last minute. This is a mistake, as the drivers' schedules can be very tight, especially during the wedding season. Therefore, let's think about a suitable car a few months before the planned ceremony.
Decorator
Choosing a venue and booking it is not everything. We still have to remember to decorate it. Some wedding venues have professional decorators on staff, so we don't have to worry about that. It is a slightly different situation when we have to find a decorator on our own – then it is best to start the task a few months earlier to calmly discuss the details with the chosen person. Let's also remember that stationery is also important in wedding decorations - paper place cards, bottle tags, menu cards, or table numbers will look beautiful when the rest of the decorations and bouquets on the tables are also matched.
First dance
The first dance is a traditional element of the wedding and, in a way, its opening. Remember to choose the song that will accompany us in the dance well in advance and, if necessary, sign up for a preparatory course or choreograph an interesting routine yourself that will reflect the character of the Bride and Groom.
Catering
After knowing the final number of guests, we can order catering. As with decorations, we can often use the catering available at the restaurant or wedding venue. During this period (approx. 2 months before the ceremony), we also order the wedding cake and pastries.
Organizing a wedding may seem like an overwhelming task due to the amount of work that needs to be done. However, it is the most important day of our lives, so it is worth approaching it with ease and calmness. Most of the things we have to deal with are very intuitive, so the most important issue is simply sticking to the plan.
