Wedding Invitation Wording and Verses

Wedding invitation wording and verses.
A wedding invitation, as we know, gives your guests their first taste of the celebration. Beyond practical information regarding the date and venue, it can also showcase the color palette, theme, or the personality of the Bride and Groom, thereby setting the tone for the wedding—whether it is formal or more "laid-back".
Through the invitation wording, you can express your own personality, the nature of your relationship, or your passions. From many ready-made wedding invitation templates, you can choose something that speaks to you or, better yet, fits your vision of the celebration. By adding your own personal touch, you can create a unique text that will delight your guests.
We often place love poems at the beginning of wedding invitations; after all, a wedding is a celebration of love! It is worth thinking about what is unique in the relationship between you and your fiancé(e) and using that as a guide when choosing a verse—whether your relationship is very poetic and romantic, or if you approach it with more humor. As shown in the examples below, they can be quite different. You can find sample verses HERE [CLICK]
If love is like eternity -
- without a before and without an after.
Fr. Twardowski
This Gentleman and This Lady
are destined for each other.
J. Sztaudynger
The next part of the wedding invitation is the main body, containing specific details. It can be short and concise or extensive with additional descriptions woven in. The style of the text can very easily show your invited guests the character of the celebration, just like the texts below, which demonstrate a very formal style as well as a humorous one (which can just as well highlight your wedding theme). The final part of a wedding invitation is very often information regarding wedding gifts and flowers. As you probably already know, most young couples today prefer to receive a cash envelope as a gift. In most cases, this is because they have lived together before the wedding, and the additional appliances that were traditionally given as wedding gifts have already been purchased. Extra cash can help with buying an apartment or other needs. Responding to current customs, couples have started coming up with tactful rhymes that inform guests that they would prefer an envelope over gifts, so many of these have been created and are no longer considered unusual or tactless.
A similar situation has arisen regarding giving flowers at a wedding. Even though it is a beautiful gesture, receiving flowers from all guests results in a huge amount, which becomes quite problematic not only in transport but also after the wedding, because let's be honest, they unfortunately start to wilt two days later. Instead, couples are leaning towards something more permanent, like a bottle of wine or whiskey—although it won't be a keepsake for years, it is certainly more practical, especially for meetings with family and friends after the wedding. Lottery tickets are also popular; a single one might not bring millions, but if over a hundred guests give such a ticket, there is a much greater chance that you will win a fortune! If you want to support a local animal shelter or charity, there are also rhymes for you; instead of flowers, guests can bring a bag of dog food or toys for children from an orphanage. "A gift is always a bit of a bother,
Should it be a clock or a robot, or rather?
To avoid writing long books,
the couple asks for cash, by all looks."
"Flowers are beautiful but allergies they bring,
And teddy bears gather dust on everything.
Instead, we would like to ask for a fine wine,
To toast to our guests' health,
on an autumn evening, feeling divine."
"Dear guests of ours
we have a big request
instead of flowers that will wilt
we have a great desire
for you to bring us
crayons, paints, and plushies,
so we can bring joy to dear children together."
Verses have been created for all these ideas, and just like with the invitation wording mentioned earlier, there are more formal ones and those with a sense of humor.
Instead of verses, you can also use icons/rebuses. This is the simplest way to show guests that you would prefer an envelope instead of a gift, or wine/a lottery ticket instead of flowers. Such icons are currently very popular; thanks to them, you don't have to spend hours reading hundreds of verses to choose the one that will be appropriate and won't offend any of your wedding guests, while still being liked and fitting the overall theme.
Whether you are approaching your wedding very formally or less so, you will surely find something suitable for yourselves. Let's not forget that the purpose of the invitation text is primarily to inform your guests about the most important details, but additional personal touches are always welcome!
